Total Hip Arthroplasty

Direct Superior Total Hip Arthroplasty

The direct superior total hip arthroplasty is a muscle-sparing, minimally invasive procedure that enables patients to return to normal activities and work at an accelerated pace—without the need for traditional hip precautions. Dr. Sumko gained extensive proficiency in this technique during his advanced fellowship training. Compared to the anterior approach, which he also trained in during residency, the direct superior approach has demonstrated even better patient outcomes and enhanced recovery.
